The structures and exhibition materials celebrated innovative use of timber, experimenting & highlighting wood product life cycle, wood fuels and broader environmental context of carbon sequestration & storage.
MEITHEAL ADHMAID- COLLABORATIVE ENGAGEMENT AT ELECTRIC PICNIC 2010.
Facilitated on an interdisciplinary footing with inter-agency cooperation, the installation was a popular public space -incorporating shelter, seating and accessible surfaces - featuring ‘Crashing Wave’ structure premiated in International Juried Competition this year, the Babel Tower (Chair Henge..!) and a dramatic folded landscape of wood. All elements were prefabricated demountable and reusable. This years sustainable lighting collaboration with ESB was spectacular and certainly had the ‘WOW!’ factor. There has been extremely positive & thoughtfull feedback from the public and event organisers to the impact of this collaborative project. Watch this space....
The Electric Picnic has widespread international appeal, described as “Ireland’s version of Glastonbury”. With an audience age profile of 25-45 year musically discerning people with a strong social conscience, it has been awarded an Independent Greener Festival International Award recognizing environmentally-friendly music festivals.
